Hereafter

Last night my friend Boyd and I went to see the new movie directed by Clint Eastwood. Hereafter will be a disappointment to many people and a source of anger to others. I found it to be thought provoking as well as rewarding. It is a very slow paced movie and for me, that is a good thing. I like to have a few moments to think about what has been presented before moving forward.
She asked me "Do you believe in the hereafter?" and I said "What do you mean by 'the hereafter?'" And she said "If you're not here after what I'm here after then you'll be here after I'm gone."

Mexico ... here I come.

I now have just about everything ready for my next big adventure. Next Saturday (Nov 6th) I will be flying down to Guadalajara to start my trip. From there I will follow the Pacific Coast southward on my way back to Zihuatanejo for a visit. I don't know where I will go from there but eventually I plan to make my way back to the Yucatan. I want to spend some time in the the town of Merida before heading east to Chichen Itza, Cancun, Isla Mujeres and then Belize. It may not take place in that order. Heck, it might not take place at all. I just know that I am going with an open heart and an open mind. I am ready for adventure.

Wow !!! Nice welcome home ....

Last night as I made my way towards the Deschutes River I was greeted with the most beautiful sunset of the entire trip. It was wonderful to see the sky lit up like a welcome home banner.
8,600 miles - let me tell you, it was a trip.

Lightning ... Ooooh yeah !!!!

I stopped just before Gap, Arizona to watch some of the storm action. I captured a few lightning strikes and they are slowed down to 1/8 speed for your viewing pleasure.

Sunday evening, Albuquerque, New Mexico

After my visit to San Antonio I made my way to Fort Stockton and then on to Albuquerque. There are storms all around but the road has been clear and it is clear here this evening. I've been watching the lightning in the hills but I don't have a good location to try to get any photos.
Tomorrow I will make my way back to Kanab, Utah and if the weather holds I might say two days there. If not, I will continue making my way back to Oregon City with some stops in central Oregon.
Nothing has really panned out on this trip. It has been fun, no doubt, but nothing came of the few "possibilities" that I had in the works. So the new plan is to get back to Oregon, put some of my stuff in storage, sell what I can and head for Mexico and/or Belize for the winter. It will be a good test of my flexibility. It has been way too long since I was in touch with my friends and I am sure that things have changed there too. Things always change. Always.
